School Saving Bonus

 

Dear Parents and Carers, 

 

In Term 4, 2024, families with a child enrolled in a government school from Prep to Year 12 in 2025 will receive the one-off $400 School Saving Bonus.

 

The $400 School Saving Bonus provides families with support for education-related costs, such as school activities and/or school uniforms and textbooks.

 

The School Saving Bonus is not available for full-fee international students, home schooled students, TAFE students and students attending kindergarten in 2025.   

 

Actions for parents and carers

Before 18 October 2024, the Department of Education is asking parents and carers to:

  • Complete enrolment: If your child, or children are changing government school for Term 1 2025, or starting Prep or Year 7 in 2025. For more information, read about Enrolling in School. 
  • Check your contact information: Ensure your email address and phone number is up to date with us. You can check this information by contacting us directly.

We need to ensure your contact information is up to date as the Department of Education will email you twice:

  • in October, to verify your email address
  • in November, with your $400 School Saving Bonus and access to an online system.

Please check your junk mail regularly to make sure you do not miss an important email.

Advice and Information on Bills, Fines, Tenancy, Utility Relief, Concessions and much more

Southeast Community Links (SECL) are hosting a Bring Your Bills Day on Tuesday, 24th September from 11am – 3pm at Pakenham Library.

 

This is a great opportunity for community members to speak face to face with experts from a large range of organisations and peak bodies that can provide advice and information on bills, fines, tenancy, utility relief, concessions, and much more. 

 

Financial Counsellors will also be available on the day to provide free and confidential support. 

 

Children’s activities will be available to support families who attend.

 

Registrations are not required.

 

This can be accessed by all of the Community.

Construction Update - Pakenham Level Crossing Removal Project

ROAD CLOSURES IN AND AROUND PAKENHAM

McGregor Road closure

McGregor Road will be closed between the southern Princes Freeway roundabout and Livingstone Boulevard, including Henry Road/Webster Way at the intersection, from 7am Sunday 22 September to 5am Monday 23 September to move barriers install traffic signalling, remove and replace asphalt, and place line marking. 

 

The Warragul- Warragul-bound freeway ramps and the city-bound freeway entry ramp at McGregor Road will also be closed during these works.

 

Detours will be in place with delays of up to 15 minutes:

  • via Princes Highway and Cardinia Road for city-bound drivers
  • via Princes Highway for Warragul-bound drivers
  • via Park Boulevard, Honeyeater Way, Webster Way, Bald Hill Road and Healesville Koo Wee Rup Road for drivers travelling on McGregor Road
  • Via Livingstone Boulevard and Henry Lawson Drive for drivers travelling on Henry Road.

Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road traffic changes 

The Warragul-bound freeway entry ramp will be closed until mid-November to complete works on the eastern side of the freeway interchange.

 

There will also be no right turn on Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road from the Princes Freeway Warragul-bound exit ramp during this time.

 

Drivers can continue to enter the Princes Freeway to head towards Warragul using the entry ramp on McGregor Road, via Southeast Boulevard or the Princes Freeway.

 

Racecourse Road closure

Racecourse Road will be closed between Henry Street and Bald Hill Road from 7am to 5pm Saturday 21 September to relocate power lines and poles.

Detours will be in place with delays of up to 15 minutes:

  • via Bald Hill Road, McGregor Road and the Princes Highway for Princes Highway-bound drivers
  • via Princes Highway, Cardinia Road and the Princes Freeway for Princes Freeway-bound drivers

McGregor Road and Webster Way closures

Until late September, there will be long-term closures on McGregor Road and Webster Way:

  • McGregor Road southbound between Webster Way and the Princes Freeway
  • Webster Way between McGregor Road and Honeyeater Way.

Detours will be in place via:

  • Henry Road and Cardinia Road, for drivers travelling city-bound
  • Park Boulevard, Webster Way, Bald Hill Road, Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road and the Princes Freeway for drivers travelling south towards Koo Wee Rup or Gippsland-bound.

Delays of up to 20 minutes are expected.

 

The McGregor Road freeway interchange will remain open throughout these works. Drivers exiting the Princes Freeway at McGregor Road can continue to travel north towards Pakenham or south towards Koo Wee Rup as normal.
