PREP NEWS

Hello prep families!

Welcome back to school, we can’t believe we are in term 4! We hope you had a wonderful holiday!

This week we have been learning about our new term topic which is Animals.

We are incorporating animal learning throughout every area of the curriculum. Talking about animals in our maths, writing about animals in literacy and researching about animals in inquiry. We are looking forward to our excursion to the Melbourne Zoo in November. We will send out more information about this soon.

In literacy this week we have been revising our sounds sh/ ch/ and th/ and thinking of words that have those digraphs in them. We have been writing our own stories and reading books in guided reading groups and individually.

For maths this week, we are learning how to break numbers down into smaller parts. We know that 5 is made up of 2 and 3, 4 and 1, 2 and 1 and 1 and 1, etc. We will learn about all of the numbers up to 10 in this way.

We had some time this week to go and do some mindful yoga in the gym on yoga mats.

We also welcomed a new friend into Prep A. His name is Henry! Welcome Henry!

We are very excited to welcome Mie-Mie back next week. She has been with our grade 5 and 6 students in Japan having a wonderful cultural trip. What a wonderful experience for those lucky students.

Remember hats are now compulsory for all students during recess and lunch time. Those students without hats need to play on the stage only.
