School Council News
External services/programs
School Council recently completed a review of external services utilising the school premises to run their programs.
We considered several key areas, particularly Child Safety Standards requirements and impacts on school operations.
Our review highlighted several issues, including challenges in meeting some aspects of Child Safety Standards compliance, and difficulties in running some school programs due to use of spaces by external programs.
School Council must consider and prioritise the holistic needs of students and staff, and so we have decided we can no longer sustain the use of school premises by external programs where it impacts school operations and/or poses potential Child Safety Standard compliance issues.
Unfortunately this means we will be unable to accommodate the Junior Rockers program from 2025.
We have not taken this decision lightly and do understand this may be disappointing for the several families who use this service.
We would like to thank Junior Rockers for their contribution to our school community - no doubt the program has instilled a lifelong love of music in many students over the years.
Spring Soiree
Thank you to everyone who supported our major fundraiser at Vue on Halcyon.
The event was held to raise funds for the playground project and thanks to such generous community support, we are delighted that the playground will be built early next year.
Whether you attended the event, bought raffle tickets or donated prizes, it is much appreciated.
And an extra big thank you to Rennae and Dean Rackley, who hosted the event at their beautiful venue. We are so grateful for your long-standing support of our school community!
Undercover court resurfacing
Warrandyte Community Bank has been a major supporter of several school improvements in recent years and we are extremely appreciative to have been given the opportunity to apply for another grant this year.
With the fundraising target for the playground now achieved, school council has now endorsed resurfacing of the undercover basketball court as our next big project.
We have applied for a grant to go towards replacing the aging asphalt court with a new surface that will improve safety and visual appeal, reduce noise and help minimise joint stress.
Should our grant application be successful, we hope to resurface the courts next year as part of the school's 130th anniversary celebrations.
School photos
We received an excellent response to our recent survey and thank parents for taking the time to provide constructive feedback.
The results were reviewed at our recent school council meeting and will assist with 2025 school photo planning.
