Grade 5 and 6
How is it the end of Week Three already? This term feels like it is disappearing before our eyes! The students have gotten off to a flying start and hit the ground running. We almost feel like we've been working solidly for a long time.
Wacky Hair Day
So much has happened but our big event has been our final Grade 6 Fundraiser - Wacky Hair Day. At our Wacky Hair Day, the kids really let their creativity run wild! From towering pom-poms to gravity-defying spikes, it was a hair-raising spectacle. Each style was a “mane” attraction, with some sporting curls that could only be described as “curl-icious.” The laughter flowed as freely as the hairspray, proving once and for all that when it comes to fundraising, this day brought it to a head! It was a day to remember—because who knew a little hair-venture could spark so much joy?
The Grade Sixes had their Graduation photo taken which makes their graduation seem so real. It was a lovely time for the students to reflect and have conversations around what they are looking forward to and some of the things they are beginning to think about.
CBL
With the whole school CBL Big Idea of 'Curiosity', e are well on our way to understanding how businesses are created and how they operate. We have also looked at some parts of marketing by unpacking fads and trends. Then, last week we began to look at ethical businesses - what makes them ethical and how and why they differ from other businesses. We had two visitors come in to talk about the businesses they created and why they chose to develop ethical businesses. They also talked in-depth about their passions, their missions for their business and how incredibly hard they have worked to realise their dreams and run a successful business. This will hold the students in good stead as they soon begin to work on their Challenge of pitching a sustainable or ethical product to the 'Sharks' in a 'Shark Tank'-like situation.
