We acknowledge the first peoples of the Kulin Nation, their Dreaming of the past, present and future. We pay our respect for their land by looking after the land we learn and play on.

The Paralympics kept our Olympic fever running hot and we kicked off with the annual OSHC Lap challenge. Tying in nicely with the Paralympics it also provided some good training for the recent Walk-a-thon. The idea of the challenge is that students and staff walk, run, hop, skip even cartwheel as many laps of the soccer pitch as they want to. Participants can stop and start whenever they like.

While there is always a little bit of competition between students and in some cases siblings, it is more competition against themselves. Some choosing to do 5 laps each day and some just wanting to do one better than the day before. The most laps over the comp so far has been has exceeded 100 which is a big effort.

In both programs we have exposed the children to some of the different sports, trying to have a new one showcased each day. This has exhibited the challenges these Olympians face and the adaptations that different events have made for these individuals.

Kate has been testing the children’s knowledge with regular Kahoot trivia sessions and Jas has been bringing out the skipping ropes which has been a big hit with many students.

In the kitchen students have been baking all sorts of treats like coconut macaroons, lemon shortbread and choc chip cookies to name a few. A few students put their scientists hats on and got stuck into making mini motors and battery operated propellers using an electricity kit kindly donated to us.

Lexi has been busy crafting, making use of all the generously donated wool. Children have continued to make pom poms, finger knit and some are even learning the art of crochet. To mark the beginning of spring children made flowers and insects out of pipe cleaners and cherry blossoms.

Outdoors Sam and Seth have facilitated many soccer and footy matches, basketball shoot outs, cricket type games and challenging students in many a rally in 2 square.
