Year 3 Digital Technologies

In Year 3s Digitech lessons, students worked in pairs to create a virtual tour of a part of the school.

In the example below Michael and Hana chose an emergency exit route from the year 3 building out to Waterdale Rd.

After mapping their routes out on the school aerial map they used iPads and the

PowerPoint Online app to take photos and insert directly into slides. Once photos were inserted, the rest of the work was to insert arrows and links to designated slides.

Unfortunately because PowerPoint doesn't render properly in the online newsletter their wonderful work has been incorporated as a video. Please watch it as it showcases our students' considerable talents.

Year 3 - Welcome Anthony Carbines, State Member for Ivanhoe.

Wednesday Anthony Carbines, State Member for Ivanhoe, Minister for Police, Minister for Crime Prevention and Minister for Racing visited our year 3 students and spoke with them  about democracy with a particular focus on laws and our Community. Anthony spoke about his role in our Community. This talk formed part of our Civics and Citizenship Unit - Rules and Laws that the students studied in Term 3. We have also designed some ‘Big Things’ – ideas to promote our Community, that we were keen to show him.

Pre-Covid, Anthony came in on successive years to talk to our students about this theme, and post pandemic the Year 3 team was very keen to resume this relationship as we felt the students got much from the experience.

Mr Carbines has always been a great supporter of IPS.

Year 6 - Disaster proof dwellings

As part of our Geological Changes unit, the Grade Six students have been working on creating disaster proof dwellings. They were required to conduct scientific research on the causes and impacts of natural disasters and ways to stay. They presented this information in a variety of ways.

Peer Leader Lunch Celebration

It has been another incredibly successful year for our IPS Peer Leader Program.

All students who sacrificed their lunch times and energy to sustain this important program are deserving of all the recognition and praise for their hard work.

This year was the largest group of volunteer peer leaders we have ever had, and although challenging at times,  the maturity and positive examples demonstrated to our new Foundation students was nothing but extraordinary.

A special thanks to those students who contributed to the program in Term 2, and an extra special thanks to that small group that offered their lunch times for an entire two terms!

This program does not run without student support. It has been wonderful watching all of them grow in confidence and leadership skills throughout the program.

I hope you enjoyed the celebration today!

Thanks again to all, I hope those of you who will be here in 2025 will throw your support behind the program once again, to guide new up and coming leaders in the school.

You are all legends in my book.
