News & Information

R U OK? Day

Yesterday, there was a wave of yellow around our campus as we celebrated R U OK? Day. We are committed to creating a supportive and caring environment where everyone feels valued and heard at LCS - reflecting the compassion and care that Jesus exemplified in His teachings.

R U OK? Day aligns with our mission of fostering a community of compassion and understanding. It encourages open conversations about mental health and offers opportunities for staff to check in with one another, providing both support and solidarity.

This event not only reinforces our commitment to the wellbeing of our staff but also creating a culture where seeking help and offering support is normalised and encouraged. Take a moment to ask a friend or colleague, “Are you okay?”

LCS Rock Challenge

Our ears may still be ringing, but we're grateful all the same for the entertaining evening that was the LCS Rock Challenge!

On Thursday September 5, students from Years 7-12 took to the stage in the PAC and performed covers and originals, as solo acts and bands, demonstrating the breadth of musical talent here at the school. What a night!

Thank you Mr Stewart and Mr Swift for the many hours of time and effort spent ensuring students had their time on stage. And congratulations to Year 12 band Sunset Theory (first photo) who competed at the interschool Battle of the Bands.

Celebrating our TAs

Teacher Aide Appreciation Week was September 2-6, and we took the opportunity to say thank you. Our teacher aides tirelessly support students through the ups and downs of school life, showing incredible dedication and commitment to their wellbeing and learning.

There’s no denying that teacher aides and support staff are true superheroes. If your paths cross with one of these wonderful people this week, be sure to thank them for the important role they play in our school community.

Father's Day Fun

We hope all the dads and dad figures in our LCS community were celebrated well on Father's Day, Sunday September 1. At school, the Parents in Community were busy with the annual Father's Day stall, making sure that our Primary School students had some goodies to express their love and appreciation.

We are extremely grateful for the role that fathers play in our families and community, and pray it was a blessed time for you!

Chess Tournament

Primary students Jonty Edwards, Joshua Eleveld, Cash de Jonge, Mason De Ruyter and Solomon Rowlings competed in the 2024 Interschool Chess Tournament at Punchbowl Primary School on Monday September 2, overcoming a power outage to represent the school well, with some outstanding individual results. In particular, congratulations to Jonty who won six out of his seven games and placed third overall.

Well done, boys! It's great to hear that you're all keen to do it again.

Learning Through the Senses

It was a case of "learning through the senses" for the Year 10 Bible class. Students have been studying different cultures and world religions, culminating in a meal. Mr Hill has so far served up Asian and Indian feasts, and the most recent spread was Middle Eastern inspired wraps.

"It's made me think about other cultures and consider my own beliefs and what I call normal," Riley Direen said of the class.

Bronte Howe said that she appreciated gaining a fuller understanding of different belief systems. "I've grown up as a Christian, so it's good for me to understand how other religions work. I'm grateful that Jesus died for our wrongdoings so that we don't have to save ourselves, like other religions do."

Needless to say, the food disappeared very quickly!

Will you pray for our school?

A new parents (grandparents, friends) prayer group is launching to uphold the staff and students at LCS.

Come join us for our first meeting on Wednesday September 18th at 9am in the LCS Boardroom. Please sign in via the office.

Important Reminder: Parking @ LCS

We would like to remind everyone about the importance of adhering to our school's parking policy. It is crucial that we all abide by the posted speed limit to protect the safety of our children and other users of this shared space. Failure to do so puts our ability to continue using Windsor Park for drop-off and pick-up at risk.

Please take a moment to review the attached parking policy, which outlines the guidelines and expectations we must follow. Compliance with this policy is not optional - it is essential for the wellbeing of our school community and our continued use of this facility.

We urge everyone to drive slowly and carefully when entering and exiting the park and to ensure that you park in a safe manner within the designated areas. Let's work together to address this issue before it escalates further.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
