Northern Special Schools Football Gala Day
Northern Special Schools community held a funfilled Football Gala Day at the Preston City Oval on Wednesday 26th of August.
It was a great opportunity for students to get involved, showcase their football skills and enjoy a wonderful day of competition and community spirit. There was plenty of excitement on the field, along with lots of smiles, team spirit and of course a well deserved sausage.
Concord School made it all the way to the Grand Final, where they faced Sunbury in an exciting match. The team played brilliantly and came away with a 20 point victory, securing the Grand Final win. A huge congratulations to the entire Concord team on an outstanding effort. MVP went to Lukas for an exceptional performance on the day.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the Gala Day such a fantastic event. It was wonderful to see our school communities come together, celebrate sport and enjoy a great day out.
Term 3 Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings
On Tuesday 15th September 2026, we will be holding our Term 3 Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings. This day will operate as a Variation to School Day, with meeting times available between 10:00am and 6:00pm.
The purpose of the SSG meeting is to discuss your child’s progress towards their Semester 2 Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and to check in on any other matters that may support your child at Concord.
SSG meetings are scheduled for 30 minutes and may be conducted face-to-face or via Webex. Please let your child’s classroom teacher know if you would prefer to meet via Webex.
As this is not a traditional school day, students will only attend school for their scheduled SSG meeting. This arrangement provides teachers with sufficient time to meet with families and students and allows for more in-depth discussion about your child’s progress and learning. Where available and relevant, external therapists are encouraged to attend.
If you would like an external therapist to participate in your child’s meeting, please liaise with them directly and inform your child’s classroom teacher. For some students, attending their SSG meeting may not be appropriate. If you are unsure, please discuss this with your child’s classroom teacher.
Please note that TheirCare will not be operating on this day.

SSG bookings will be available via Compass from:
- Opening: Monday 7th September
- Closing: Monday 14th September
Parents and carers can book appointments with their child’s classroom teacher and Semester 2 specialist teachers. Please note that specialist teacher meetings are 15 minutes in duration.
How to Book your (SSG) meeting through Compass
Bookings are for Tuesday 15th September, 2026 which is a Variation to School Day (10am - 6pm).

Mode of Meeting
These 30 minute Student Support Group meetings will be held onsite in the students’ 2026 classrooms. If you are unable to attend onsite, please contact your classroom teacher and they can organise a Webex meeting.
Booking with a Specialist and/or Social Competencies Teacher
You will be able to book a 15 minute meeting time with your child’s Semester 1 teacher through Compass.
