This Week At OOPS

Happy 1st Birthday Ginger!
A massive happy 1st birthday to everyone's favourite therapy dog, Ginger!
We are so lucky to have her as part of our school community and both students and staff alike enjoyed celebrating her very first birthday together at school. Ginger enjoyed visiting every classroom around the school for lots of pats and a pupcake!

Prep Discovery
This week in Prep, our Discovery prompts were
English: Can you make something beginning with e?
Maths: How many more beads do you need to make the teen numbers?
Collage: Can you make an /e/ sound collage from the magazines?
Construction: Can you build a house like Clancy and Millie did?
Dramatic Play: What do the Yard Duty teachers help with?
Fine Motor: Can you create a Zentangle egg?
This week's Inspectors were Anna & Ellery (PNT), Kate & Ayla (PMB), Ava & Sena (PBF). All photos were what our inspectors captured in our Discovery sessions. Their prompt was to "look for people trying their best" in line with our Wellbeing focus this week of showing resilience and positive self-talk.
Exploring our Families
Over the holidays, the Year 5 & 6 students interviewed a family member and then wrote a speech to share the information they gathered. We have been learning about other countries that family members have migrated from and some of the cultural traditions that are special in their family.
PMP
This week was an exciting week for the Preps as they had their first PMP sessions. PMP stands for Perceptual Motor Program, and the students complete activities that focus on a range of different skills including gross-motor, fine-motor, memory, balance, directionality, coordination and much more. They continued to build these essential skills in their Buddies session too, where the Grade 6s taught the Preps how to tie shoelaces and how to skip.
