Principal's Message

Wawa, Wominjika.
Here at Old Orchard Primary School, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we visit each day, the Wurrunguri and Woiwurrung people of the Kulin nation. We acknowledge and respect the elders and leaders past and present and the elders and leaders of all of the cultures and nationalities that are part of the Old Orchard Primary School community. We express our gratitude towards the orchards that were kept in place by the peoples on this land before us. We thank the traditional owners for sharing this beautiful land that we all love, and for keeping the land, sky, waterways and animals all in great condition for thousands of years, not only for themselves but for all the generations to come.
Athletics Day
Yesterday, our students from Years 3 to 6 took part in our much-anticipated House Athletics event. It was a fantastic day filled with energy, sportsmanship, and team spirit. A huge thank you to our amazing P.E. teacher, James Roche, our wonderful parent volunteers, and all our dedicated staff — the day wouldn't have been possible without you.

Education Week-Open Evening
To celebrate Education Week, we will be hosting an open evening on Wednesday 14th May 5:00pm-7:00pm. Our theme, ‘Celebration of Cultures’, highlights the diversity of our school community. We would love to see all our families come along and celebrate with us.
Federal Election
Old Orchard will serve as a Polling Station for the upcoming Federal Election on May 3rd. In conjunction with this event, our Parents and Friends Association (PFA) will be hosting a fundraising barbecue to support the school. We encourage you to support this initiative, either by volunteering your assistance or by snagging a democracy sausage or two!
Mother’s Day Stall
Our Mother’s Day stall will be held on Tuesday 6th May. This annual event continues to bring great excitement to our students. This year, we are pleased to share that several of our dads will be assisting with the stall. We also look forward to welcoming families to our Mother’s Day Morning Tea, which will be held on Friday May 9th. Information on how to purchase tickets can be found elsewhere in the newsletter.
Year 5 Camp
Our Year 5 students and staff will depart for Waratah Bay on May 7th and return on Friday 9th May for what is anticipated to be an enriching and memorable camp experience. We wish them all the best for their adventure and look forward to hearing their stories upon their return.
