Acting Principal

Kristen Le Gassick

I wanted to acknowledge the student leaders who presented at the ANZAC Day service on Thursday. They spoke well, helping to mark this solemn occasion. Emmy and Fletcher were excellent hosts, and our student leaders were well prepared.

This week I was invited to lunch by the Year 5/6 class and learnt a little about the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Program. It was great to see the whole class trying the meal and discussing what they might like to eat again. I also enjoyed the communal eating—sitting together while we ate and chatting with students, staff, and parents. I was treated to Chilli Non Carne, Polenta Chips, Salsa, Tortillas and Tacos. Whilst I enjoyed it all, the fresh, zingy salsa was my favourite. My only disappointment was having to wait a few weeks for the next lunch.

School Wide Positive Behaviour

On Monday I attended the SWPBS meeting, where students and some staff looked at data from the past month to identify positives in the school and areas we could work on. I was impressed with the students’ ability to read this data and consider possible actions and strategies they could implement to support ongoing improvement. The SWPBS tree, where students can add a leaf when they receive a positive token for Respect, Responsibility or Resilience, is blooming. It’s great to see new leaves added, just as many are falling from our deciduous trees around town.

Our positive behaviour tally so far for this term is... 140!

Marianne Gadsby has taken a fixed-term Assistant Principal position at Rushworth P–12 College. We wish her all the best and thank her for her excellent work at Charlton. As a result, I have an expression of interest open for a Leading Teacher position until the end of the year, and an ongoing English position has also been advertised.
