CFA Visit

Last Wednesday, we arrived at the Beaufort CFA Station, excited to learn all about being a firefighter. First, we learnt about how to put out a fire in a cooking pot. We learned not to use water to extinguish it, as it may make it more dangerous. Instead we were taught to cover it with a fire blanket.
After that, we checked out the gear the firefighters wear when they attend a fire. Then, we were shown the fire trucks and learnt about how they work and what equipment they use. We were allowed to sit inside one of the trucks to see and feel what it's like to be a firefighter. The CFA members informed us that there are two different types of firetrucks; one that is used specifically for structure fires and another that is used to fight bushfires.
Thanks to Mark and Anthony and the other CFA members, for taking the time to teach us what it's like to be involved in the CFA and thanks to Mr Severino for taking us.
