Weekly Wrap: Year 11
Year 11 Advisory
Last week we had House Cross Country which was the perfect day to do it, the weather was lovely. We've had "Do it for Dolly Day", we dressed in blue and handed in gold coin donations. We've had a few SACs already this term and smashed each one of them as well as beginning to prepare for our upcoming Mid-Year Exams. We've played our sports and had a win! On Tuesday we started to sand back the paint in the canteen area so the VM students can paint it next week and to make it look cleaner as part of their PDS/WRS project.
Year 11 Health
This week in Year 11 Health, Maggie and Sarah had a visit from a furry friend! As they have been exploring the importance of maintaining a good level of health and wellbeing, they explored the positive impact pets can have on someone’s mental health.
Year 11 Biology
Sarah enjoyed dissecting a kidney to investigate its internal structures.
Year 11 WRS/PDS
Year 11 WRS/PDS students are currently involved in refurbishing the exterior of the school canteen. This week, students are sanding the surfaces in preparation for painting, which will take place next week as part of their hands-on learning program.
Year 11 & 12 Retreat:
Year 11 and 12 students are lucky enough to be part of trailing the Colleges first midyear retreat. As Year 11 and 12 progresses, it’s common for students to experience a “mid-year slump.” This retreat is intentionally designed to help students recharge, refocus, and re-engage with their goals in a supportive, engaging, and encouraging environment. The retreat combines personal development, wellbeing, teamwork, and fun—all set in a relaxed outdoor setting.
An information letter has been handed to students as well as posted to compass.
Year 12 Biology
Zali, Fletcher and Joe spent last Friday's double lesson outside, investigating photosynthesis. It was the perfect day for it!
Year 12 Geography
Joe is working hard on completing his fieldwork, to answer the research question, "is the land use change in Maiden Gully necessary and desirable?"
Here, he is creating a sketch map to show a proposed change to the roads surrounding Maiden Gully Primary School, aiming to increase the safety of primary students crossing the busy Calder Highway.
