Assistant Principal's Report

Mitch Harris

Welcome back to all students and staff! I hope you had a wonderful and enjoyable break. This term is full of fantastic learning opportunities and a range of extracurricular activities. I encourage every student to make the most of the opportunities available at Mount Beauty Secondary College while maintaining focus on their educational responsibilities.

Energy Drinks

We have noticed an increase in students bringing energy drinks (e.g. Monster, Red Bull) to school. Energy drinks can negatively impact student behaviour and interactions with staff.

School Procedure for Energy Drinks:

  • Students found with energy drinks will be required to leave them at the office for collection at the end of the day. Parents/guardians will be notified (this includes Year 12 students returning from lunch passes).
  • If a student has already started consuming an energy drink, it will be removed and disposed of. Students are strongly encouraged to comply with this request to avoid further negative interactions.

Why Energy Drinks Are Not Allowed at School:

  1. A healthy diet supports student well-being and academic success.
  2. Energy drinks contain high levels of caffeine and sugar, which can negatively affect concentration and behaviour.

If anyone in our community wishes to discuss this, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment.

ANZAC Service

Students and staff participated in a short school service to commemorate ANZAC Day today. Students acknowledged the significance of the day and its solemn meaning. Thank you to those that spoke and contributed to the event. Our School captains (Zoe & Nat) will speak at the community event on the 25th of April.

Transition to Year 7

We are soon to start the transition process from primary school to Year 7, with an information evening being held on Wednesday the 30th April. It will be wonderful to share how our school supports students and the fantastic extra-curricula opportunities on offer.

Some things that will be shared:

  1. Key staff and points of contact
  2. School vision, mission and values
  3. The program the school offers
  4. Experiences from a current Year 7 & 12
  5. Transition camp
  6. The VCE
  7. The way MBSC supports young people through the transition.
