NAIDOC Week

Last Friday musical superstar Mitch Tambo performed for the second time for Mitcham Primary School and the students couldn't stop singing his songs all day long!

He is one of Australia’s most unique and electrifying First Nations entertainers, hailed as “the new voice of our generation”. Now an international sensation in the World Music scene, his debut album, Guurrama-Li, raced up music charts within Australia, the UK, the US, Europe, Asia, and New Zealand on its release.  He has achieved 10 consecutive number ones on the iTunes Worldwide charts.

Mitch engaged students in Indigenous teachings, culture and music throughout his performance. Afterwards Mitch conducted a Yarning Circle with students from the Marrung Student Group, our school leaders and Indigenous Students. In the Yarning Circle he exposed them to the Indigenous Cultural way to be mindful, heal and build new actions related to wellbeing. Students performed in song and dance around a smoking ceremony and had their faces painted to match.

Thanks for coming again Mitch, we loved you!
