Principal's Message

Welcome back to Term 2

I hope all members of our community have had a restful school holiday and were able to spend time with friends and family.  It has been fantastic to see students settle into school life with ease.  The learning routines and positive relationships we worked to establish in Term 1 have continued, with a calm and orderly start to Term 2 the result. 

Whole school SWPBS acknowledgement - Pyjama Day!

This Friday we will be celebrating achieving our whole school SWPBS goal of receiving 500 acknowledgements for following classroom routines.  Students have been practising following the many different routines that make up school life - from entering the classroom, to participating in class discussion.  These routines create security and predictability for all students, particularly when they are common across the whole school. 

Routines are a key component of our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework, and have been a focus for staff professional learning this year.  As an SWPBS school, we know that when we state the behaviours that represent our values, explicitly teach these behaviours and acknowledge students when they show them, we are able to develop a positive, learning focussed school culture. 

Vision and values sessions

Over the last week we have held a number of sessions reviewing our school's vision and values. Students, staff and community have spoken about where our school has been, where we want to get to and how we are going to get there. Reviewing a school's vision and values ensures alignment with current educational goals, societal changes, and student needs. The process is intended to foster shared purpose and strengthen community engagement. We are determined to ensure our vision and values are relevant, inclusive and drive continuous improvement. A working group will now synthesise the information from these sessions into a refreshed vision and values statement for our school.

Thank you election BBQ and cake stall volunteers

The best part of any election is clearly the sausage sizzle and cake stall at the local primary school. This weekend we will be continuing this great tradition, with our parents and friends committee slinging sausages and cakes to support our school and feed the participants in our democracy. Many thanks to all who are volunteering on the day, helping prepare or baking something delicious for the stall.

Road safety

Finally, another reminder to please be mindful of safety when dropping off or picking up students on the roads surrounding our school. With so many of our students riding, scooting or walking to school, we need to ensure we are working as a community to keep these zones safe for all kinds of travel. Please ensure you have properly parked your car before dropping off or picking up your children. We have seen some unsafe practices such as double parking that have resulted in potentially dangerous circumstances for those commuting to school. We thank you for your efforts in ensuring all are able to travel to and from school safely.
