Disability Inclusion at Concord School

Concord School is in it’s second year of implementing Disability Inclusion, which all Victorian government schools are now putting into practise. It replaces the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) funding for schools. Disability Inclusion differs from PSD because it is focused on the strengths and abilities of our young people. A highlight of the meeting is hearing about aspirations and goals from parents and their children.

Stacey and I have been busy preparing for almost 20 Disability Inclusion Meetings that will take place over the coming weeks. We are looking forward to meeting with parents, their children, the classroom teacher and a facilitator to discuss the supports in place for these young people. The table below shows the domains and activities that are talked about in the meeting.

If your child requires a Disability Inclusion Profile this year, you will be contacted by Stacey or myself. Currently, our foundation (prep) students are being scheduled for Disability Inclusion meetings, along with other students from across the school.

Easy English resources about both the Disability Inclusion Profile (PDF) and the profile meeting itself (PDF) are available.

If you have any questions about Disability Inclusion, please feel free to phone the school at the Bundoora campus, and ask to speak to Rachael Macmillan, (Disability Inclusion Leader) or email me at Rachael.Macmillan@education.vic.gov.au. Stacey Bilchouris is our Disability Inclusion Learning Specialist, and can be contacted by phone at the Bundoora Campus on Thursdays and Fridays, or via email at Stacey.Bilchouris@education.vic.gov.au.
