ABCN Foundation Accelerate Leadership Summit Camp

In week 3 one of our year 11 students Nya Quinlan was chosen to participate in the ABCN Foundation Accelerate Leadership Summit Camp. Nya was one of 28 outstanding Year 11 students who attended from across Australia. The week was an amazing experience giving Nya the incredible opportunity to connect with corporate mentors, gain real-world experience and explore what it takes to turn career dreams into reality. Nya got to explore Optus’ headquarter, visit global fashion leader PVH and create new friendships. We are so proud of Nya and can’t wait to see everything that awaits her on this journey as one of our future leaders.

Lyambay Dancers

The start of this term has been extremely busy for our Lyambay Dancers. Our dancers were invited to perform up at UNE for their 10th Chancellors Dr Sarah Pearson installation ceremony. The dancers also performed this week at the Montessori Preschool for Reconciliation Week. They have been working really hard to get ready for ACOS, which is happening in term 3. Thank you to Jaiden, Aunty Tash and Ms Drielsma for their continued support of our Lyambay Dancer

Me and My Mob

This term our Year 7 Me and My Mob students have been busy working on a banner for this year's Reconciliation Week AntAR Bridge Walk. The girls have been working extremely hard and we can wait to show off their deadly work.

Myall Creek Memorial Excursion

This year there will be a bus from ASC going to the Myall Creek Memorial Ceremony. Students from Stage 5 are encouraged to consider participating. The excursion will be of particular value to Aboriginal Studies students and all History students. The ceremony occurs on the Sunday of the June long weekend, that's June 8th. The cost is $10/per student and permission notes are available from Mr Knuckey and Mr Howey in the C2 staffroom. Students will not be permitted to attend without a permission note signed by a parent/carer.

National Indigenous Science Education Day

In Week 3, on Tuesday the 13th of May, our school held the National Indigenous Science Education Program. For the day, year 9 and 10 Indigenous Students stepped into the role of teacher with the help of staff from Macquarie University and the University of New England. Our students got to lead year 7 science students through a whole bunch of science experiments from elephant toothpaste, identifying different smells, writing invisible messages and fingerprinting. The day gave them an opportunity to build their confidence, work on public speaking and develop their leadership skills. Our students leaders did a deadly job and most importantly made sure everyone had a fun time while learning, we are so proud of them.  Thank you to our students and staff who made this event possible in particular the science faculty and Mr White.

State Drama Camp

Year 11 student Grace Weatherall-Allen has been chosen to be a part of the Arts Unit 2025 State Drama Camp. This is a great opportunity for Grace to participate in workshops with tutors from industry professionals,  develop an original group piece with other students for performance at the end of camp, and watch performances by a professional theatre company and previous Year 12 students.
