Principal's Report

Tim Mulhall - Principal

Thank you to the ‘Shed Crew’.

I would like to personally thank the members of the Shed Crew (Jocelyn Blair, Max Van Scott, Erin Vistirini, Clare and Justin Arthurs, Andrew Dimsey, and Christina Penna on her day off)  for the time and effort put into clearing our ‘storage’ shed. Between the wheelbarrows, reciprocating saws, and manual labour, they have managed to give us a clean slate to use our shed for future student projects, like our upcoming gardening club.

I am very grateful for the supportive community at MPS. This is just another of the many examples of how the community contributes to the school.

Thank you!

Working Bee

Some may say this was cleverly tucked in after the above comments; I call it happenstance. We have a working bee this weekend, Sunday 10:00 am, to clean up around the school after the storms from last week. We will also set our sights on clearing the Early Learning Centre to make space for some extra student learning spaces and prepare for our upcoming Information Night.

Information Night

Wednesday the 28th of February will be our Information Night. If you know any families that have children starting school in 2025, or any you know who are looking at our school, please encourage them to come along. We look forward to showcasing all the great things happening in our school and sharing what is still yet to come.

Family Fun Night

Same time, same place, just a week later.

Unfortunately due to the weather forecast, we have had to reschedule our Family Fun Night.

Please join us next week, on the 29th of February (Thursday Night), for our evening of fun, games, and community connection. If not for that, come for the free icy pole and the BBQ where sausages and drinks will be available for purchase.

School Contributions

The contributions we receive as a school go a long way in providing our students with the resources to give them the very best opportunity to thrive at our school. These contributions go towards curriculum resources, books, technology, first aid materials, and many different extra supports. We ask that if you can contribute, please do. This truly makes a big impact on the support and resources we can provide our students in our classrooms.

Student of the Week

You will notice that the timing of the Student of the Week newsletter release has changed. We will now announce the recipients of the previous fortnight’s awards in the Newsletter after they have been announced at Assembly. Students' parents/carers will still be notified early, so they are aware.

Student Clubs

To provide our students with more opportunities to participate in different engaging activities during recess and lunch, and to encourage students to create more connections across the school, our Grade 5/6 students are bringing back student clubs! They have been busy surveying the students across the school to find out what clubs they would like to be involved in. This has been met with excitement and enthusiasm. We look forward to these starting in the coming weeks.

National Young Leaders Day

Our Grade 6 School and House Captains ventured into the Melbourne Exhibition Centre last week to participate in the National Young Leaders Day Conference. This opportunity provides developing leaders with an opportunity to gather at world-class event venues to hear some of Australia's most high-profile people share insights from their leadership journey. This year's speakers were:

NAPLAN

We look forward to supporting our Grade 3 and 5 students who will be participating in NAPLAN beginning on the 13th of March. Please find more details about NAPLAN in the Parent’s Information Guide.

If your child is in Grade 3 or 5, you will receive more information in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, please feel free to reach out with any questions or queries.

Warm regards,

Tim Mulhall
