Study Habits

Senior students are seeing a large number of SACs to be completed and outcomes due all close to the same time.  The YLC teams and consistently checking in on students to offer support and guidance in relation to time management and study.  Students are encouraged to make sure they keep to their study habits each night and to seek assistance if they get overwhelmed or are falling behind.

International Women’s Day

For International Women’s Day, the recipients of the Soroptimist scholarships, Maryana Narooz and Malika Niazi, attended the Soroptimist International Women’s Day Breakfast at GMHBA stadium. Malika and Maryana were invited to speak as representatives of North Geelong Secondary College.

Maryana spoke about her journey to Australia, highlighting the struggle she faced as a young woman.

“I was a refugee from the Middle East, I went through many hardships with my family, and I was lucky to start a new life here in Australia after a death in the family, a horrible injury to a parent and an overnight call to move my whole life.  The women in my life have inspired me to not despair in spite of everything you are faced with, they make me strong”.

Malika also spoke about her journey after finally arriving after being sponsored, “In this country, I feel safe, I have access to education and opportunities to become an inspiring and educated woman.  I may not know what I would like to do, but I can now choose what I want to do”.

Malika and Maryana both spoke wonderfully and were applauded for their impact on the days presentation to the many guests attending.

Reports and Parent/Teacher Interviews

Students have received their progress reports and families have the opportunity to discuss the feedback provided by teachers at Parent/Teacher Interviews on Wednesday 27 March. We encourage any families to make a booking to touch base with each of the students' teachers for valuable feedback about student progress and their attitudes toward learning.
