PDHPE Report

Term 1 has been a busy start to the year for PDHPE students, with students in Year 7-10 heading offsite to the amazing sporting facilities around the Echuca Moama region.

Year 7 and 8 students have been working on their Swimming and Water Safety skills in the lead up to the AQUATHON Challenges in the coming weeks at the Moama and Echuca pools.

Year 9 PASS students are currently working on the competencies for their LSV Bronze Medallion Awards, including their timed 400m swim!

Year 9 PDHPE students have spent the past three weeks focusing on the strategies and tactics involved in Tennis at the Rich River Tennis Courts.

And finally, our Year 10 students are currently slowing down and taking the time to learn the tactics of Lawn Bowls.. some finding it harder than they thought!

Year 7 Science

Our Year 7 students have recently been investigating solids, liquids and gases and have thoroughly enjoyed making slime. Not only can slime bounce when rolled into a ball, but it can also stretch a long way!

Year 7 Camp

On Tuesday - Friday this week, the sun was shining as our Year 7 students ventured on their camp, held at YMCA Camp Wyuna, Queenscliff. The purpose of the camp was to challenge students, support them to develop responsibility for self and others and to develop relationships by working cooperatively with their peers. Our students participated in a range of adventure activities including, canoeing, surfing and mountain biking! It was a wonderful adventure for our Year 7s as they kick start their Secondary schooling journey. We have no doubt they will sleep particularly well tonight!

A special thank you to Mr Hall, Mr Townrow, Mr Byrne, Mrs Anderson, Mr Southon, Mr Lethlean, Ms Turner and Mr Frazer for planning and attending the camp!

Year 8 Food Drive

One of the main themes of Lent is ‘Almsgiving’. As part of our commitment to the Season of Lent, Year 8 are being asked to be considerate of others, particularly the poor and the marginalised. To showcase this, we're encouraging all Year 8 students to participate in our food collection initiative. Please see more details below.

Eating our Emotions in English Advanced

Pride. Love. Fury. Excitement. Engaging an audience in the complexity of human emotions is essential in strong creative writing. But have you ever tried to communicate these emotions through descriptions of eating? This was the challenge for our Year 11 English Advanced students this week. Provided with a tempting treat our students practised their ability to use sensory imagery to convey a wild range of unusual emotions. The results were highly entertaining and the students also enjoyed the jelly snakes.
