From the Principal's Desk

Big Brekky

We hope you all enjoyed last week's Big Breakfast! It was great to see so many families enjoying the opportunity to catch up with each other while enjoying a bite to eat.

Thank you to our wonderful staff for setting up and serving the hordes of hungry mouths. I hope you had the chance to say hello to all our new staff or even meet your child's teacher for the first time.

PFA

Last night we held our AGM for our Parents and Friends Association and it was wonderful to see so many new faces in attendance.

At the meeting, we were presented with reports from our outgoing (joint) Presidents and Treasurer and we thank both AJ and Dwayne along with Mel for all the hard work in bringing our PFA back to life over the past 2 years.

Nominations were then called for our Office Bearers for 2024 and for the first time that I can remember we had multiple nominations forcing an election by secret ballot.

So... we congratulate our new PFA Office Bearers for 2024:

President(s): Natalie Angelone &Mel Daglish

Treasurer: Mirella Verga

Secretary:  Sophia Garro

Our PFA is always approachable and welcomes all members of our community. Please keep a look out for our PFA page which will appear in the Newsletter.

Special Lunches

It's Sushi Time!

The first of Special Lunch Day is fast approaching and will be held on Monday 4th March which means order forms (that were sent home today) need to be completed and handed into the office by 3:30 pm 28th February.

Please remember that NO late orders can be taken.

Meet our Student Leaders

Over the past couple of weeks, Year 6 students interested in applying for positions of Student Leadership were asked to complete and submit a written application addressing specific criteria. Students who applied for a position had the opportunity to present themselves along with what they have to offer through our interview process by delivering a short presentation to their peers and select staff.

I must commend every single student who took the time to compose their application and present themselves to their peers... it takes courage to 'put yourself out there.'

Choosing our leaders is probably one of the hardest jobs we have each year as each child has a case for selection and disappointment for some is inevitable. Positions are appointed on the skills and attributes candidates can bring to the position at this point in time. We applaud all students who applied and congratulate those who were selected, so let's meet them-

Student Leaders:

Francesca and Elwood

Social Justice Leaders:

Mila and George

Sports Leaders:

Tia  and Luke

Our Student Leaders will be presented to the school community at next Monday's school Assembly.

Big Day Out

In the lead-up to Catholic Education Week, we will be celebrating our Big Day Out: Combined Schools Celebration on Wednesday 6th March.

We, along with children from St Augustine's and Annunciation Primary Schools, will celebrate  Mass at St Augustine’s Church at 10:30 am followed by a sausage sizzle lunch and activities run by KABOOM SPORTS.

We will have an early snack break prior to departing but it is suggested children bring along some additional healthy snacks to eat when needed.

For lunch, children will receive:

  • 1 sausage in bread
  • 1 fruit drink box
  • 1 packet of plain chips

And there may even be a Zooper Dooper on the way home.

If this is not sufficient, or your child doesn't eat sausages, children are to bring additional food items.

Children are to wear their SPORTS uniform (including hat) and are to bring a small backpack containing their water bottles and snacks. Please make sure EVERYTHING is labelled.

We will depart by bus from Corpus Christi at approximately 10:00 am and return around 2:30 pm.

Please make sure you grant permission for your child to participate via the Operoo form which was sent out to families this week.

New Learning Support Officers

We welcome to the team Miss Olivia Anderson and Miss Mia Ellis as new additional Learning Support Staff.

Mia has been in this week and Olivia will commence next week so please feel free to go up and say hello. We know they will both be valuable additions to our community.

Miss Debbie's Last Week

Next week will be Miss Debbie's last week before she commences maternity leave. I am sure you will join me in saying we will definitely miss her welcoming smile and extraordinary skill set around the office.

Mrs Laura Cosentino will transition into the office and has been training with Debbie. Please go easy on us as we transition into this new phase of life without Debbie!
