Principal message

Dear Staff , Students and Families,

Thank you for your generous welcome and support over the past few weeks. Please note that Fiona Dearn will continue her period of Personal Leave until the end of this term. As such, Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd have extended my appointment in the role of Acting Principal for the remainder of Term 1.

I look forward to continuing to work with the St Monica’s School Community as we move through the term. In particular, please make note of the following;

Caritas

Lent also marks the annual Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal. Donations to Project Compassion allow Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.

Please give generously to Caritas Australia this Lenten season and help vulnerable people around the world, now and for all future generations.

With your support, Caritas Australia has been able to assist communities around the world through income generation, water and sanitation, food security, education and disaster risk reduction programs.

Project Compassion 2024 reminds us that the good we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come. Together, we can help vulnerable communities face their challenges today and build a better tomorrow.

You can donate through Project Compassion donation boxes at school.

Please visit the Catholic Identity page of the newsletter to watch a short video that provides some real life stories where Project Compassion has provided support for vulnerable others.

Swimming program

Well done to the Grade 3-6 students who completed the school swimming program last week. We know the value of water safety and the lessons help students work on their skills in this area.

Congratulations Dom!

The Royal Children’s Hospital continue to play an enormous part in the lives of so many young Australians. So many of us see the Good Friday Appeal as an important annual event and give generously. We are thrilled that Year 5 student, Dom is an ambassador for this year’s appeal. He bravely shares his story, and more importantly raises awareness for all in our community. With Dom’s approval, I include this in the newsletter to help us consider the great work that takes place at the RCH and to recognise the capacity we have to support others. See the community page for links to Dom's story and how you can help support the Good Friday Appeal.

Reminder - Whole school closure next Friday March 8

Please note our upcoming Staff Day is taking place on March 8. All staff will be involved in the day and the school (including the office and YMCA services) will be closed.

In Faith and Community,

Tim Edwards
