CIS Swimming Championships
Last term, a talented group of students represented our school at the CIS Swimming Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, delivering some outstanding results.
Congratulations to our Junior Relay team—Mia Li, Emilia Weber, Cindy Ruan, and Yitong Li—who finished 6th overall in a highly competitive field. In individual events, Noreen Li and Cindy Ruan performed brilliantly in the 8 Years 50m Freestyle, placing 5th and 6th respectively.
Special recognition goes to Mia Li, who had an exceptional meet. After competing in five events, Mia secured two impressive 4th-place finishes (50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly) and earned silver medals in both the 50m Breaststroke and 200m Individual Medley.
As a result of these podium finishes, Mia will now represent CIS at the NSW PSSA Swimming Championships on Tuesday, 28 April. We are incredibly proud of Mia’s dedication and wish her the very best of luck as she takes on the top swimmers in the state!

Australian Junior Athletics Championships
Alina Meers competed at the NSW Junior Athletics Championships where she finished 6th in the 15 years 90m Hurdles. She has had a great year of competition at Regionals setting personal bests in the Long Jump 5.47m, 100m 12.81secs and 90m Hurdles 14.00secs. She qualified to compete at the National Championships in the Triple Jump and Hurdles. Alina made the final of the Hurdles, smashing her personal best by running 13.62 seconds.. She also finished 10th in Australia in the Triple Jump 10.95m. It is incredible to think this is already Alina’s 5th National Championships competing for NSW!

IPSHA Cross Country
A huge congratulations to every student who represented Kambala at the IPSHA Cross Country carnival last term.
Despite a challenging course, our athletes competed with fierce determination and displayed exceptional team spirit, cheering each other on from start to finish. We are incredibly proud of your efforts!
A special shout-out goes to the students listed below, who have qualified to represent IPSHA at the CIS Carnival on Thursday, 25 June. We wish you the very best of luck!

National Water Polo Champion
In the holidays Zoe Learmonth in Year 7 competed at the National Water Polo championships in Queensland. Zoe represented Sydney University in the W14 Div 1 with her team. The team went through undefeated and claimed the Gold medal, making them National Champions! Any amazing achievement. Zoe was then drafted into the Drummoyne U16 team and played the second week of competition with them. Whilst her team was undefeated in the group stages, they ended up in the 5th and 6th play off game. An outstanding tournament nonetheless! Well done Zoe.

Australian Age Swimming Championships
During the holidays, four Kambala students competed at the Australian Age Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast. This event brings together top swimmers aged 13–18 from across the country and serves as a key step in the national development pathway.
Congratulations to Kalia Finau, Sienna Schmidt, Elka Mortimer, and Frankie Somerville, who all delivered outstanding performances and achieved personal best times in their events. A special mention to Frankie Somerville for winning silver in the 50m freestyle, an exceptional achievement.
