Welcome to Term 2

I trust everyone enjoyed a relaxing break over the school holiday period, with the bright autumn sunshine and a noticeably slower pace across Sydney. It was a pleasure to welcome our girls back to Kambala last week, and to see the school come alive again with their energy and enthusiasm.

With less than three weeks to go, on Saturday 16 May we will host the IT’S HER TIME Gala Ball at the Hilton Hotel, Sydney. Our Gala Ball Committee has been working tirelessly to create a truly memorable evening filled with joy and connection, as we come together to mark the construction of the Multi-Purpose Auditorium and Sports Precinct.

This ten-week term promises to be a vibrant and engaging one, with a wide range of events and activities enriching the learning that takes place each day. With Mother’s Day fast approaching, we look forward to acknowledging the important women in our students’ lives. Our celebrations will include the Hampshire House Mother’s Day breakfast on Tuesday 5 May, the Junior School breakfast on Thursday 7 May, and the Senior School breakfast on Friday 8 May. In the lead-up to the Mother’s Day festivities, the KPA will again host a Mother’s Day Stall from 4 - 6 May, where students can purchase gifts using a stall voucher—click here for further details. These occasions offer a meaningful opportunity to come together as a community, and we look forward to sharing them with you.

This term will also see the Year 6 Father Daughter Dance, an annual event that always brings so much joy for our families. The sporting prowess of our girls will once again be on show as they gather for both the Junior and Senior School Athletics Carnivals, with the winning house/s to be announced later in the term. 

National Boarding Week will take place from 10–16 May this year. As part of the celebrations, we will be exhibiting at the Dubbo Boarding Schools Expo on 15 and 16 May at the Dubbo Regional Theatre. We warmly invite you to stop by and meet our Head of Enrolments, Tracy Mulligan—it would be wonderful to see you there.

Our teachers have returned restored and enthusiastic. We always begin our term by involving all teaching and non- teaching staff in shared planning and professional development and last week we presented and discussed curriculum and learning pillars to staff. It was a robust day of discussion and thought leadership and we are all approaching the term with excitement and energy. 

I look forward to connecting with many of our families in the weeks ahead. There is a strong sense of commitment across the school as we begin another term rich in challenge, curiosity and high-quality learning.
