Free Parent Webinar on artificial intelligence (AI) and Study
We’re pleased to advise that Elevate Education will be hosting a free parent webinar on artificial intelligence and study on 6 May 2026.
In a recent survey of over 3,000 students, 75% reported already using AI tools when they study. While these tools can be powerful when used well, many students are currently using them in ways that undermine learning rather than support it.
This session will help parents understand how AI tools work, the most common mistakes students make when using them, and how you can support ethical, effective AI use at home.

Tales from the English Room with Mrs Packham and her Amazing Students!
Welcome back to Term 2. We have hit the ground running, with Year 11 students continuing their study of persuasion in texts, focusing on the techniques writers use to influence their audience. They are developing their understanding of how language choices—such as emotive language, rhetorical questions, and the use of evidence—can shape opinions and strengthen an argument.
After returning from the Northwest Tour, Year 11 students will move into a new unit exploring two contrasting documentaries. Through viewing and class discussion, students will examine how filmmakers present ideas, perspectives, and values, and how visual and language techniques are used to position audiences.
Year 12 students will spend the next four weeks preparing for the Externally Set Task (EST), revising key skills and content covered so far this year. This includes analysing how language choices shape meaning, exploring characterisation and values, and refining their ability to respond clearly under timed conditions. Students will complete a range of practice activities to build confidence and readiness for the assessment.
Following the EST, students will begin studying the novel The Maze Runner by James Dashner. This unit introduces the dystopian genre, where students explore how fictional worlds reflect real-world issues. They will examine themes such as control, survival, and human nature, and consider how these texts challenge audiences to think critically about society.
It is shaping up to be a busy and engaging term across both year groups, with plenty of opportunities for students to strengthen their reading, writing, and analytical skills. I am incredibly proud of the effort students are putting into their learning and the positive attitude they bring to class each day.
