Grade 2 students just hanging in the yard.
At BBPS we have the 6Rs - our school values - that teachers use with our students to create a shared language about how we treat each other. Our BBPS Wellbeing Support Plan unpacks each of our values, and identifies key capabilities we use to show each value. These have been reviewed by previous SRC students, and developed by them for their peers.
Feel free to put a copy on your fridge and use the language within your own homes - a consistent and shared approach can be a powerful strategy to build thoughtful, empathetic human beings.

The start of term usually sees our classroom communities re-focusing on these values, taking the time to unpack specific ones to build a deeper understanding of what it looks like to be a member of the BBPS learning community.
Its timely for us, as adults, also to revisit our own responsibilities within the BBPS community, and how we can ensure respectful communication to each other.
While we understand that parents naturally want to check on the wellbeing of their children and others, it is important to consider the best way to do this. Social media or messaging through shared WhatsApp groups are not appropriate places to discuss incidents involving students or to speculate about what may have occurred. When messages like this circulate, information can quickly become inaccurate and may unintentionally cause distress to the children and families involved.
We ask that families refrain from posting about student incidents in parent/carer messaging groups, and when sharing information about school-based processes or operations (e.g. our teachers or curriculum program) that this is done respectfully. If you have concerns about something your child has experienced or shared with you, or queries about BBPS specifically, please contact the school directly so we can support appropriately.
If an incident takes place at school, trust that we will follow up - you do not need to contact other parents yourselves. When incidents occur at school, staff follow clear processes to investigate, address and support students to reflect and repair. Where appropriate, families of the students directly involved are contacted by the school. To protect the privacy and wellbeing of all children, we are unable to discuss individual students or incidents more broadly.
We are working with little people, who will not get it right every time. All students (and adults) have different things they are working on. Children develop these skills over time, and staff work with students every day to learn how to play safely, respectfully and appropriately with their peers.
Thank you for helping us maintain a respectful and supportive community for all of our children.
