As we wrap up a busy and exciting Term 1, I hope all families are looking forward to a well-earned break.
While it’s a break from school routines, there are many natural and fun ways to keep your child’s literacy skills growing. Chatting about your day, reading a favourite book together, writing a postcard, or even keeping a simple holiday journal can all make a big difference. These small, everyday moments help build your child’s confidence, vocabulary and love of learning.
There are also many wonderful low-cost and free things to do across Melbourne. These outings are a great way to spend time together, create special memories, and give your child plenty to talk about, read about and write about.

Whether it’s a trip out or a quiet day at home, these moments all count. Talking about what you see, hear and do helps your child make sense of the world and builds their confidence to share ideas through speaking, reading and writing.
Wishing all families a safe, restful and happy holiday break!
