Principal's Report
Term 4 is well underway with many things happening in the past few weeks. We had a great turnout to our open classrooms, celebration of learning on Monday 14th with children proudly showing their parents/ carers/ special person the work they have been doing this year.
On Friday six talented athletes represented our school in the Greater Western Region Track and Field Championships. Congratulations to Bella, Felix, Oscar, Chayce, Danny and Olive for their efforts on the day.
This week the Year 3/4 classes have thoroughly enjoyed their excursion to Earth Ed in Mount Clear. Thank you to the teachers for committing to an early start and later finish to their working day so that our students could be involved in some engaging real world earth science experiences.
Today our Foundation students and teachers are off on the annual farm excursion as part of their Inquiry unit about where our food comes from.
2025 classes
Term 4 also means that planning for classes for 2025 begins. Parent requests are now closed. Teachers will be spending a considerable amount of time over the next few weeks discussing where students are best placed for 2025. We have a rigorous process for developing class groupings to ensure students are in the ‘best fit’ grade with ‘best fit’ friends.
Thunderstorm Asthma
The epidemic thunderstorm asthma risk forecast runs from 1 October to 31 December each year. People should be aware of the heightened risk of thunderstorm asthma in general throughout the grass pollen season and be appropriately prepared. The forecast should not replace appropriate prevention and good asthma and hay fever management, which is the best way to protect yourself from thunderstorm asthma. (health.vic.gov.au)
Please ensure your child’s asthma plan is up to date and managed accordingly.
Appreciating our teachers
Tomorrow is World Teachers’ Day. World Teachers' Day is an opportunity to say thank you to the teachers who continue to make a difference today – and everyday – to children and young people’s lives. I would like to personally thank and acknowledge the amazing teaching staff we have here at WEPS. Their passion, commitment and care that they show toward all our students does not go unnoticed. We will be celebrating them in a special way tomorrow.
Parent Forum
As the end of the year can be quite busy, a reminder to put Monday 18th November in your calendars – our Parent Forum will be held 6.30-8.00pm. We’d love to see you there.
