šŸ’¬ Debating Semi-Final šŸ’¬

Ā

On Wednesday 6th November, our Grade 6 debaters travelled to Fyans Park Primary School to compete in the 2024 Inter-School Debating Competition Semi-Finals. The first semi-final was Roslyn A versus Fyans Park A and the second semi-final was Chilwell A versus Fyans Park B. Both debates were impromptu, which meant that teams did not find out the topic until they started their 30 minutes of preparation. The topic was That participation awards should be discontinued.Ā

Ā

Fyans Park B won the coin toss and elected the affirmative side, which meant that Chilwell A were negative and argued that participation awards should be retained. Chilwell A were awarded a well-deserved win, with Sean (2nd speaker) being awarded best speaker. Congratulations to all of our debaters.Ā

Ā

We are very proud of their efforts, both Team A for competing and Team B for attending the debate in support of Team A. All eight of our debaters have come a long way throughout the year, learning the value of hard work, organisation, and most importantly, teamwork.Ā

Ā

Chilwell A will now compete against Fyans Park A (winners of the first semi-final) in the Grand Final on Wednesday 13th November at 4:00pm, with Chilwell hosting Fyans Park. We wish our Team A debaters all the best for an enjoyable and successful debate and congratulate them on their achievements.
