Dear Parents and Guardians

Welcome to week 4 of term 4.

What wonderful weather we have had so far!!

Fr Brendan

Last Sunday evening  the parish  farewelled  Fr. Brendan with a  mass and  celebration in the atrium.   It was no surprise that it was standing room only!!!  I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the school community to thank Fr Brendan for his commitment to us over his 18 years as Parish Priest of OLGC.  I was actually Deputy Principal when Fr Brendan commenced  at OLGC and I have had  the privilege of his guidance and support during  this time.

I am fully aware of the massive contribution he has made to the religious life of both the school and parish. His work with the staff around Catholic Identity and putting the staff outside their comfortable zone to grow in their understanding of our faith is something every staff member will forever be grateful to Fr Brendan for.  For the many many students Fr Brendan has Baptised  and celebrated sacraments with, I know they will forever be thankful for the manner in which Fr Brendan made these important times in their lives so special. Our community will miss his approachable and genuine care for each and everyone one of us.  We wish Fr Brendan all the best and I know we will see him around.

Principal  Appointment Process

Peter Vanstan from MACS spoke with staff at a staff meeting last week regarding "What qualities they  would like" in a new principal.

On the same day I spoke with all students , obtaining their feedback on the same issue. This feedback combined with the parent survey  will be shared with the selection panel.  I thank everyone involved for their input.

Applications for the position close next Monday.

Class Structure 2025

A possible class structure for 2025 was presented to the School Advisory Council last Thursday evening. I thank the Council for their feedback and thoughts. The structure  as well as staffing will be shared with the community once our numbers for 2025 are confirmed.

Grandparents Day

Just a reminder that Grandparents Day is on Friday the 8th November. The morning will commence with a Mass (children can sit with their grandparents)  followed by activities in the classroom, as well as an opportunity to visit the book fair.

The grandparents are then invited to a morning tea.

We look forward to an amazing day.

3/4 Camp

This morning the Yr 3/4 students left for their three day camp at Mill Valley ranch.  There was a lot of excitement and some nervousness amongst the students and maybe the staff as well!!  They have arrived and commenced the activities.  We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing about their adventures on their return.

Madagascar Concert Recording

If you ordered a copy of the Madagascar Concert, it is are now available for collection from the school office.

Condolences

Please keep in your prayers the De France family, Sebestian Year 6 and Vincent Year 4, with the passing of their grandmother last week. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Reminder

There is no school for students on both Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th of November

Have a great week

Brian
