Sewing Volunteers Needed!

Are you skilled with a sewing machine and interested in assisting with an upcoming Year 5/6 patchwork project? We’re looking for volunteers to help put together artwork that our students have created. If you’re available, please reach out to Sarah via Class Dojo.

What's been happening in the art room during Week 1 & 2?

Prep - Prep students have been developing their modelling skills using playdough, practising techniques like rolling, coiling, and shaping. They’ve now progressed to working with clay, creating their own clay snails, which will feature in an exciting future project.

Year 1/2 - 1/2 students began a Construction and Modelling unit of work, starting with playdough to explore techniques. The following week, they created their own clay pendants, which will then be turned into a necklace.

Year 3/4 - Our Year 3/4 students wrapped up their Ugly Dolls from last term and have started their new Construction and Modelling unit. They experimented with clay techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab building, exploring how different tools can shape and texture their work.

Year 5/6 - Our Year 5/6 students have begun their Threads and Textiles unit. They’ve revisited the basics of sewing, including threading a needle and tying knots. These skills will come in handy as they embark on an exciting project in the coming weeks.
