Spring Concert Celebrates Student Growth with an Evening of Inspiring Music

The annual Spring Concert on October 24, was a memorable evening for our school community, celebrating the musical journey of students from Year 7 through to our senior ensembles. Featuring outstanding performances from the Year 7 Band, Year 8 Band, Senior Band, Flute Ensemble, Primary Chapel Choir, and Secondary Chapel Band, the concert was a beautiful showcase of dedication, skill, and school spirit. Our MCs for the evening, Megan Jansen and Mia Maree Hart, did an admirable job guiding the audience through each set, adding warmth and humor to the event.

Opening the concert, the Primary Chapel Choir set a reverent tone with two beautiful pieces that prepared the audience for an inspiring evening. Their enthusiastic voices were a reminder of the pure joy that music can bring and highlighted the talent of our younger students.

The Year 7 Band was next to take the stage, and the audience was impressed with how much they had achieved in just one year of learning! Playing with poise and confidence, these students showcased their growing skills, performing a lively selection that earned them hearty applause. Their hard work has clearly paid off, and they’re already building a strong foundation for their musical futures.

Following them, the Year 8 Band showed the remarkable progress they had made over two years. Their repertoire was more challenging, and the group performed with a level of maturity and cohesion that demonstrated just how far they’ve come. The audience was delighted by their performance, and it was wonderful to see the confidence and camaraderie shared by this group.

A touching part of the evening came during the performance by the Senior Band, who bid farewell to three dedicated VCE students (Jesse Yeap, James Bergen and Lucas Faber). These departing seniors have contributed significantly to our school’s musical community, and the band paid tribute to their commitment and leadership with a stirring performance that reflected their inspiration and influence. Despite the loss of these seniors, new members stepped up admirably, and the group delivered a powerful set that left the audience inspired.

Adding a unique touch to the concert, the Flute Ensemble performed an elegant arrangement that brought a moment of quiet beauty to the evening. Their harmony and precision were a testament to the time and effort they’ve invested in mastering their craft.

Closing the event on a high note, the Secondary Chapel Band led with two worship pieces that resonated with the entire auditorium. Their energy and enthusiasm were contagious, leaving everyone uplifted and inspired as the concert came to a close.

A special thanks to everyone who made this evening possible, from our music teachers and support staff to families and friends who encourage our students every step of the way. It was a night to remember, filled with joy, growth, and the power of music. We look forward to seeing how these students will continue to grow and shine in the years to come!
