Principal's Update

St Joseph's is a child-safe school.

We promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all students.

Good afternoon families ...

School Fete

Our much-anticipated school fete will be held on the school grounds from 5-8pm this Friday evening.  Thank you to all those who have been involved with the organisation and/or offering donations.  We look forward to seeing all our families throughout the night.

Staffing Announcement

With mixed emotions, I announce that Kylie Ludeman has accepted a new position as Learning Leader at the Catholic Education Sandhurst Office and will finish at the end of this school year, having served 16 years at St Joseph's.

Christmas Concert

We look forward to welcoming families and friends to our special Christmas concert on Thursday, December 5 at 6.00pm under the 'Shebang'.  Bring a chair and enjoy the show.

Grandparents Day

Our favourite day of the year will be celebrated next Friday November 15 when we invite all Grandparents and Special friends to a Liturgy, classrooms and morning tea. The festivities begin at 9.15am in the school hall.

2025 Preparation...

The new year will present excitement and new challenges for all as we introduce our system-wide Learning Program 'Magnify' - an evidence-based teaching and learning approach to literacy and Numeracy.  Information will be shared with families over the next few weeks.

Change of finishing time 2025

Starting next year, our school day will end at 3:15pm. This new finish time has been set to help us support better learning rhythms for our students and align with other local schools.

With this shift, it’s a great time to start considering your end-of-day arrangements. Here are a few questions to help you plan ahead:

  • Have you started thinking about your pick-up or after-school arrangements for 2025?
  • Do you know that St Joseph’s offers Out of School Hours Care (OSHC)?
  • Could you network with other families for carpooling or shared pick-ups? Coordinating with other families can help make afternoon routines easier and build community connections.
  • Are your children ready to walk home or to another safe, convenient pick-up spot? For some of our older students, independent travel can be an exciting step toward developing responsibility.

We’re here to support all families through this transition, so please reach out if you have any questions. Thank you for being part of the St Joseph’s community as we look forward to another wonderful year together!

School Saving Bonus Information

We have received notification from the Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA) that Non-Government school students currently receiving the means tested Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) are eligible for the Victorian Government's $400 School Saving Bonus.  More information to come however, if you have received the CSEF this year you do not need to take any further action to receive this year's School Saving Bonus payment.

School Fees & Levies

Statements for school fees & levies are emailed to families.  Please check your statement and contact the office if you have any questions.

It is expected that all school fees and levies are finalised each year by the start of December.

The school provides a variety of options for payment of school fees and levies - in full at the start of the school year / part payment at the start of each school term / by direct debit – weekly, fortnightly, or monthly / by direct payment into the school bank account or by regular payments at the school office by cash or EFTPOS.   You can even pay over the phone if you wish.

It is important that payment of school fees and levies are honoured and prompt payment is much appreciated.  However, if you are experiencing difficulty meeting your obligation for payment, please contact the school to arrange a time to discuss this with the Principal, Mr Peter Teggelove.

Hats on at St Joseph's

“Hats On!” at St Joseph’s - At St Joseph’s Primary School, our SunSmart Policy notes that all children will be required to wear school broad brimmed hats from ‘Hats On Day’- September 1 to ‘Hats Off Day’ - May 1 whenever they are outside including sports lessons. However, if the UV is 3 or above it is recommended hats be worn for protection.  Children without hats will be required to remain in the outdoor eating area (green tables) at all times – ‘NO HAT, NO PLAY’ policy will be enforced.

Remembrance Day

We will gather as a school on Monday morning at the flags for a short service to honour all those who have served and given their lives in conflict.

Congratulations to Steph and Eli Sinderberry on the safe arrival of Lainey, a beautiful little sister for Declan, Arlie, and Rylan.  Wishing the whole family all the best as they welcome their newest member!
