Celebrating House Week
Week 4 has been an incredible celebration of house spirit as we celebrated House Week throughout the School. This event runs every term as an opportunity for students to earn house points at recess and lunchtimes. This week is more important than ever, with only 100 house points between Mandela and Gandhi in the battle for the House Cup! It has been excellent to see such strong participation across the three events of dodgeball, Mario Kart and the Great House Bake Off. Thanks to all our Gandhi participants for a great week!
Our Sync Swim leaders have also been hard at work in preparation for our first whole House practice during Extended PCG. We have an exciting theme in store and can’t wait to see it all come together when we commence the formal practice in Week 6. Our choreographers have been working tirelessly to create our 2025 Dance and Music and I would like to thank them for leading this House event, it certainly is a huge job. Let’s go Gandhi!

This week we start our final round of House Week competitions with dodgeball, Mario Smash Bros. and the first ever Great St George’s Bake Off. With this being one of the last chances to earn house points for the House Cup, it has been great to see the enthusiasm and turn-out for the events. Let’s go Lincoln!
As the person running the Bake-Off competition, I was blown away by the turnout and enthusiasm of the students to not only get involved in the competition, but also to create and share food with each other. Students will bring their baked goods to school on Monday which will be judged on appearance and, of course, taste. I cannot wait.
The winning recipe will be awarded house points and will be published in our next Dragon article. Good luck to all of the bakers out there and I look forward to what they will bring in next week!

This week I would like to give a huge congratulations to our 2025 Student Leaders of Mandela.
Alison White – School Captain
Zuri Hawkins – Mandela House Captain
Amelie McKeon – Mandela School Prefect
Fred Keane – Library Prefect
I have asked Zuri and Amelie to introduce themselves and say a few words for what they hope to achieve in their leadership role.
“Hi everyone! We can’t wait to see what we all achieve next year as a House and make it one to remember. Next year we aim to strengthen our House Spirit even more, by creating a real sense of unity across all year groups. We want everyone in Mandela to feel involved, motivated, and proud to represent our House—not just during big events but in everyday school life, too. Whether it’s through more team-building activities or simply encouraging each other, we hope to build an atmosphere where every student feels seen, supported, and ready to give their best! We are incredibly grateful to be your leaders and can’t wait to make this year unforgettable for everyone. We’re here to support you, cheer you on, and bring out the best in all of you. Let's go, Mandela! Zuri and Amelie.”
This week we had more than 100 students sign up and many more taking part in House Week. This is a big one for us. With Mandela and Gandhi neck and neck in total points for the year, the results of this week could be the decider for the House Cup at the end of the year. Thank you and well done to all that took part!
