Principal's Report

Jane Briffa | Principal

Dear SEPS Families,

Welcome back to Week 8!

STAFFING

Dave Richardson, one of our PE teachers, will be taking personal leave from 19th June through to 19th August. We are currently sourcing a suitable replacement to take Dave’s classes during this time. We wish Dave all the best and look forward to the continuation of our fantastic PE and sport programs.

Mr Watson will be continuing his leave for the remainder of the year and as such I am delighted to announce that Mrs Gau and Mr Daley will continue in their Acting Assistant Principal roles for 2024.

ASTHMA AWARENESS DAY

It was great to see so many excited faces and very creative hairstyles last week at our Asthma Awareness Day. I heard that some families even met up for a breakfast/hair styling session before school! What a fun way to start the day?!

This event was bought to my attention by one of our Year 1 parents and while I am hesitant to make every event a fundraiser, we were more than happy to hold a special day to raise awareness. Asthma affects many people in our community, so it was impressive to visit classrooms and hear so many students sharing their own personal symptoms and educating their peers as to what to look out for in the yard . We all gained a better understanding of what to look out for when playing in the yard, or if a storm hits that might affect their peers.

SEPS SOCIAL

Hopefully, you are all familiar with our newly branded SEPS social committee by now. SEPS Social consists of a small team of parents who are passionate about supporting our wonderful community vibe by offering lots of fun experiences and social events for our students and families. Katie and I had a great meeting last week and were able to lock in dates for the remainder of this year. Please note that everyone is welcome to attend SEPS Social meetings, regardless of whether you want to commit to an event or join the committee. All ideas are welcome. We are hoping to have the next one in the early evening so that working parents can also attend if they wish. We look forward to sharing the calendar of events with you so please make sure you check out the SEPS Social tab in the newsletter for further information.

FAMILY SUPPORT

There has been a lot of information in the media recently about the cost of living and the difficult times that many people are facing with interest rate rises etc. If you or someone you know is having a hard time, please know that we have access to some great support services. Nobody in our community should feel isolated or embarrassed to ask for help.  It is highly confidential so please do not hesitate to reach out to me should your family need any assistance, in any way.

Wishing you all a wonderful fortnight ahead and hoping that your family is avoiding all the bugs that appear to be going around at the moment. Stay Warm!
