Wynspeak
Over the past weeks, four of our students competed in Wynspeak, a public speaking competition run for secondary students in the local area. I am pleased to say that these students have demonstrated our college value of excellence by not only preparing their own speeches for the event, but also delivering them with both poise and confidence to an audience from the general public.
These students were Swati Veerappan (8B), Tala Clarete (11A), Hana Mokenen (12A) and
Glennen Brown (12C). Each student brought interesting, informative and unique perspectives to their chosen topics, and cannot be commended enough for their effort.
In addition to the prepared speech competition, the students also competed in the additional ‘short notice’ speech round, where they are given just four minutes to write and deliver a speech on a topic that was given to them by the judges. Again, these students took on the challenge with great aplomb.
A special congratulations goes to Swati who once again managed to take out first prize in the junior short-notice speech category. She absolutely commanded the stage as she spoke about her topic of facing down her fears (which, for Swati, was a fear of dancing!).
Well done again to all our Wynspeak competitors in this year’s competition. Bring on 2025!
