Reconciliation Week Reflections
27th May - 2nd June 2022
At Glen Education, we're proud to offer an educational curriculum that authentically integrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander perspectives into our curriculum as a way of advancing reconciliation. We believe it is essential every child has a right to know about “Australia’s First Nation’s histories, knowledge systems, cultures and languages” (EYLF, 2022, p. 16).
Children actively participate in meaningful experiences that promote understanding and respect. Whether it's exploring Dreamtime stories, learning about traditional bush tucker, or engaging in indigenous art, every day is an opportunity for growth and connection.
Together, we are creating an environment where every child feels valued and empowered to understand the world around them.
Now More Than Ever: Embracing Curiosity
At Glen Education, children and educators ground themselves in the rich tapestry of indigenous heritage. We commence all meetings with an Acknowledgement of Country, in recognition of those that have come before us, and to show our respect to the custodians of the land.
Now More Than Ever: Incorporating Perspectives
In our programs, we believe in the power of stories in cultivating an understanding of the perspectives of others. We're proud to acknowledge and celebrate indigenous authors and illustrators, enriching our intentional teaching experiences. We delve into the exploration of Indigenous artworks with children honour the artists, their culture, and their contributions.
We continue to weave indigenous perspectives into every facet of learning, in meaningful and authentic ways. #IndigenousPerspectives #CulturalEnrichment #NowMoreThanEver #Grow #Learn #Empower #Nurture #GlenEd
Now More Than Ever: Maintaining Responsiveness
Cultural responsiveness is a way of life at Glen Education. We look for opportunities to reaffirm our commitment to celebrating diversity. From deeper conversations about all cultures, to exploring the nuances of indigenous heritage, we create an inclusive environment where everyone feels seen and valued.

Now More Than Ever: Engaging Families and Community
At Glen Education, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom walls. We actively invite our families and the local community to be partners in the journey towards reconciliation. As an organisation, we participate in local Indigenous events, such as smoking ceremonies and yarning circles through local councils. Together, we are committed to working together to be culturally responsive and spread a message of unity and inclusion for all.
