Voluntary Contributions Explained

The provision of high-quality, inclusive programs is a strategic priority for Glen Education as a not-for-profit organisation, and the work involved in achieving success with this is ongoing. We have created and sustained positive change, but the process is a continuous one.

To ensure inclusive practice throughout the organisation, and to support children that need additional support (but that do not attract Government funding), Glen Education has two dedicated inclusion roles. These positions, who work with educators at all our services, are part of the Educational Leadership team and prove invaluable support when it comes to maintaining our commitment to quality. In addition, we also see an increase in the number of children (at all our services) that have specific individual additional needs each year.  Providing all children with the support they need to thrive (whether it be via our Inclusion leaders or the purchase of specific resources), is funded via the voluntary contribution.

Glen Education also invests significant capital back into each of its services to ensure the provision of high-quality services. Each year, approximately six per cent of the organisation’s budget is spent upgrading and maintaining the services to provide a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and beautiful environment. This spend is above and beyond IT or classroom resources and does not include any monies received through grants or fundraising. Whilst we have only undertaken a desktop review to compare our spend with other Early Years Managers, what we have ascertained is that other organisation's invest approximately one per cent (compared to our six percent) of total funds into capital upgrades. This investment into our services sets us apart from other services.

Glen Education is fully supportive of the Government’s commitment to 15 hours of free kindergarten across Victoria. To ensure we can continue to provide the high level of quality provision that all children deserve, financial sustainability is critical. The voluntary contribution goes some way towards achieving our objectives collectively.”

Staff and children who are unwell - reminders for families

If staff or children are unwell, they are required to stay at home, unless those symptoms are known to be caused by an underlying health condition or medication.

Children and staff who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, however mild, should also undertake a RAT test and notify us of any positive result.

As influenza and colds are becoming more prevalent, even with a negative result, children and staff should avoid kindergarten until their symptoms resolve and they are well again.
