Solemnity of Corpus Christi

Why Mass? Why the Eucharist?

This weekend celebrates the Solemnity (special feast day) of Corpus Christi – the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Masses are celebrations of the Sacrament of Eucharist. Mass is a wonderful time to sit in quiet reflection, to listen to what God has to say to us and to be nourished through the Body and Blood of Christ. This nourishment allows us to go out into the world with the strength to live as God calls us to live. We are reminded through this feast day that Jesus is always with us on this journey, walking by our side.

Year 3 Reconciliation

Please keep in your prayers, our Year 3 students who will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation next week.

HBF Run for a Reason

Congratulations to our Year 10 students who participated in the HBF Run for a Reason to raise money for a charity as part of their Christian Service Learning.

Reflection from one of our students – Storm:

“The HBF Run for a Reason was an amazing way to help raise money for something we believe is important. The day was such a fun and wholesome experience which I believe helped us become closer together and served as a time to reflect. I chose to fundraise for EPILEPSY WA, this foundation has helped my younger sister and thousands of other people with their journey with epilepsy. They act as a support and a voice to help gain exposure to the dangers and significance of epilepsy.”

~ Storm James

Thank you to Mr McNulty and Miss York for helping on the day, and thank you to the Salvado Catholic College community for donations.

LifeLink Archbishops Forum

On Thursday 16 June a group of Secondary students attended the Archbishops Forum 2024 for the Secondary LifeLink Day launch.

LifeLink Day is a day to promote understanding of the Church’s response to people in need within the community and to instil in students as sense of responsibility for caring for those less fortunate.

The Forum provided an opportunity for our students to meet and interact with students from other Catholic school across the state and discuss current and local social justice issues with Archbishop Costello.

The focus of this year’s forum was The Disciples of Jesus called to the mission of divine hospitality - Disciples of Christ’s peace through whom God wishes to extend the hand of friendship, of welcome, of compassion and of love.

Congratulations to the students who participated and proudly represented our College.

Vinnies Winter Appeal

All STUDENTS and STAFF across the College are invited to wear their warmest PJs on Tuesday 11 June 2024

On this day, students are invited to bring in a GOLD COIN DONATION for LifeLink and a BLANKET (new or second hand) for the St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal

Donations can be handed to Learning Space Teachers or PCG teachers. Note: please wear sneakers on this day and appropriate PJs - no midriffs, short shorts or inappropriate images.

Why donate? In the Catholic Tradition, donating to care agencies such as LifeLink and St Vincent De Paul's reflects the Gospel value of loving your neighbour. Through these sorts of fundraising activities, our students develop an awareness of the needs of others, stand in solidarity with them and are inspired to put their faith into action to address injustice.

Prayer for National Reconciliation Week

Reconciliation Prayer

Holy Father, God of Love,

You are the Creator of all things.

We acknowledge the pain and shame of our history

and the sufferings of Our peoples,

and we ask your forgiveness.

We thank you for the survival of Indigenous cultures

Our hope is in you because you gave your Son Jesus

to reconcile the world to you.

We pray for your strength and grace to forgive, accept and love one another, as you love us and forgive and accept us in the sacrifice of your Son.

Give us the courage to accept the realities of our history so that we may build a better

future for our Nation.

Teach us to respect all cultures.

Teach us to care for our land and waters.

Help us to share justly the resources of this land. Help us to bring about spiritual and social change to improve the quality of life for all groups in our communities, especially the disadvantaged.

Help young people to find true dignity and self-esteem by your Spirit.

May your power and love be the foundations on which we build our families, our communities and our Nation, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Pope Francis' Monthly Prayer Intention

In May, we pray for the formation of men and women religious and for seminarians.

The Holy Father encourages prayers for the formation of men and women religious and for seminarians, emphasising the ongoing development of their vocations through grace, prayer, community, and witness to the Gospel.

Heavenly Father,

We pray that religious women and men,

and seminarians,

grow in their own vocations

through their human, pastoral,

spiritual and community formation,

leading them to be credible witnesses to the Gospel.

Amen.
