Year 1 & 2

Around our level

Our Healesville Sanctuary excursion was a great success with many animals spotted throughout the day! The weather was very kind to us and we are very grateful for the parents who were able to help on the day. Highlights from the day are below:

1/2A:

Bentlee: I got wet because a dinosaur squirted me. My friends got wet too. I felt happy.

Remy: My best part of Healesville Sanctuary was seeing the water dinosaur. In my group I had 5 people and I felt happy. We went on a bus to get there.

Oscar: Yesterday we went to Healesville Sanctuary. At the start we saw the emus, the koalas and the echidnas. We went to the animal hospital. Then we went to the animals of the night. I was really happy.

1/2B:

Archie - Yesterday was the best! We went to Healesville Sanctuary! We saw dinosaurs and one spat water at us. Obviously not real dinos though! We saw Tasmanian Devils and we even saw a rainbow lorikeet. Healesville Sanctuary was the best!

Quinn - We saw a mum and baby koala. The baby koala was moving like a ninja. Then we saw the echidnas, it was in its burrow. Then we walked down to the kangaroos. One kangaroo got scared and jumped over the footpath. Then we saw the dinosaurs. Some were robots, others not.

Georgie - Yesterday was Wednesday the 22nd of may. We went on a bus to Healesville sanctuary. We walked to the emu enclosure. After that we looked at the koalas. We saw a ninja koala,  it jumped from branch to branch.

1/2C:

Oviya - On the 22 of May we went to Healesville Sanctuary. We went by bus. The people in my group were  Paityn, Hudson and Jett. My favorite animal was the Koala. The best part was the bird show.

Lucy - On Wednesday the 22nd of May, we went to Healesville Sanctuary. My favorite animal was the barking owl. In my group were Ashton Munn, Clarke and Chelsea. It was so funny when Paityn’s mum got swooped. The best part of the day was the animal hospital.

April - My mum came to help. The people in my group were Aubrey, Ashton, Archer and me.  My  favorite animal was the koala.

Clarke - On Wednesday the 22nd of May we went to Healesville Sanctuary and we went to the dinosaurs. I loved seeing the kangaroos.  The people in my group were Lucy, Archer and Ashton Munn.

In Literacy, we have been presenting our Google Slides on Australian Animals to the class and we have been amazed at our student’s technology skills. They have taught each other how to add effects to their slides and compared information they found on Kiddle. Some of us are also using our knowledge of Australian animals to create class “What Am I” books.

In Numeracy lessons, we have focussed on patterns using numbers and shapes. Students have enjoyed making their own patterns and having their peers continue them.
