ODE Brisbane Ranges Camp

The Year 12 Outdoor and Environmental Studies Classes embarked on a two-day camp to the Brisbane Ranges National Park last week on Thursday and Friday.

Students participated in a range of outdoor activities as part of the camp, which included native animal sightings, hiking, and sightseeing around the Stieglitz Historic Park. Students undertook a mix of the Mulrooney, Alliance and Burchell trails, discussing the impacts of the climate change which are visible in the national park. The students completed a logbook about their hiking and camping experience, reflecting on how a positive experience in the outdoors makes them more likely to engage with the environment in the future.

Students created a range of culinary cuisines including noodles, popcorn, pasta, and even tacos on the provided portable gas stoves, demonstrating a high level of planning ability which ensured they had enough food and water over the course of a couple of weeks.

With our upcoming annotated poster SAC, students will use the notes they created while participating in the camp to demonstrate their knowledge of relationships in the environment over the course of the past decade. Thank you for providing your child the opportunity to develop their understanding of outdoor environments and personal leadership concepts.
