REFLECTIONS ON CMC DISCOVERY DAY

Isaac Manley: I discovered that CMC at Junortoun is on 70 acres of land. At CMC they do agriculture with all the animals they have: sugar gliders, snakes, lizards and cows. The cow Lulu just had calves called Chicken and Caesar. She is pregnant again and they're going to call it Salad. I also discovered that STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering And Mathematics. My highlight was meeting Chicken and Caesar at the Ag center. I thought it was really funny for cows to be named Chicken and Caesar. I am really looking forward to doing STEAM and Agriculture with Chicken and Caesar and Salad who comes in September. After that day I can’t wait to go to highschool.

Abby Colt: I discovered that CMC is a really big school and there are just under 1000 students at the Coolock campus. We also did a little STEAM lesson where we put some vinegar into a bottle and baking soda into a balloon and watch the reaction happen. There was another table where we had to light up the light using the cords and lastly there was a table where we used the VR head seats. Seeing where we are going to be working next year and looking at the classrooms where we will be next year. I’m looking forward to working in the classrooms and meeting new people from different schools and having different teachers and subjects.

Georgia Rankin: I discovered that CMC Coollock campus is 70 acres. That the campus in town is called La Valla. There are 1600 students at CMC. My highlight was seeing the cow calves, because they are so small and they are named after a chicken cesar salad. They have 2 cow calves now and are getting ready to have another one in September 2024. That calf is going to be called salad as they already have Chicken and Cesar. I am now looking forward to agriculture, because they have so many animals that I would like to learn more about.

Alexys Higgins:  On Monday the sixth of May the grade sixes went to Catherine Mcauley College. I discovered at CMC that there are a lot of kids that go to CMC and it is really big. My highlight of the day was doing STEAM. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. My favourite was the science experiments, we had to try and blow up a balloon by using bicarb soda and vinegar as well as playing with all the cords to make the light bulb turn on. I am really looking forward to going to secondary college.

Kingston Clark: As a grade six unit we went to CMC for a discovery day. We got to do a tour of the school. It was massive and interesting. We got to do three activities after our tour. It was a part of the Steam subject which stands for  Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics. Apart from the cool activities we got to do, my favourite was the balloon experiment. and the things i am looking forward to are PE and mathematics.

Harry Francis: We left after our recess break and was met by Mr Watson. he gave us a quick rundown of what we would be doing and then we left for our tour, we got to see some cows named Chicken, and all of their school. It was really good and we even got to see some of the old grade 6s. we got to do STEAM which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, And, Mathematics. We got to use VR and make balloons blow up with vinegar and baking powder. I really enjoyed the day, my Highlight was being in the VR world and getting to see some old grade 6s.

Eddie Mansfield: We left after our recess break (12pm) to go to CMC for a discovery day. I discovered what STEAM stands for Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics. My highlight of the day would've been STEAM as well because there were some really cool VR headset and 2 other experiments that were awesome! I am now looking forward to going to CMC next year to start Year 7. I think it will be really fun and I will enjoy most of the classes.
