This Week At OOPS

Last week, the S.R.C. hosted The Biggest Morning Tea on behalf of the OOPS community. We set up a fundraising page, and the S.R.C. decided to aim high and try to raise $375 for the important cause. Last Thursday, we held a whole-school morning tea and activities for the students to participate in, planned by the S.R.C. We also collected gold coin donations from each student.

We are pleased to announce that the grand total we have raised for our Biggest Morning Tea is an enormous $1,477!! We are overwhelmed (but not surprised!) by the generosity of the OOPS community once again as we raise vital funds for such an important cause. We thank everyone who brought along a gold coin donation and those families who also donated on the Biggest Morning Tea page.

Avina and Ishaan (S.R.C. captains) would like to thank everybody involved in making the day a success! If you would still like to donate to the Old Orchard Biggest Morning Tea, please visit the following link: https://www.biggestmorningtea.com.au/fundraisers/oldorchard or scan the QR code. We really do appreciate every dollar and the fantastic response we’ve already had. We thank each and every person who donated!

Ready 2 Ride

The Ready 2 Ride incursion was held for the Year 5/6 students today.  The students did an amazing job practising and learning bike skills, despite some very windy conditions.

Thanks to Mel, Andy and Tiger from Whitehorse City Council for running the day and bringing extra bikes for our students to use. Thanks to our Year 5 and 6 teaching team, our pre-service teachers and our amazing parent volunteers for ensuring the program was able to run.

Open Evening

Our recent Open Evening was once again a highlight for both our current students and our wider community.

With a "Spotlight on STEM" there were fun activities happening across all classrooms - flying helicopters, marble runs, magnet races, foil boat floats, twirling helicopters and even microscope viewing!  The Kitchen Garden demonstration was of course very popular along with the lemonade made by the preps.  the Choir performance and instrumental "buskers" around the school provided a fantastic atmosphere.
