National Simultaneous Storytime

  • Last Wednesday was National Simultaneous Storytime. Many of our classes  joined well over 2 Million other children in this very special reading of Aura Parker’s book, “Bowerbird Blues”.
  • This book follows the story of a bird, who collects different blue items, such as bread tags, scraps, and pegs. It searches far and wide to find more blue in the world, flying from cityscapes to diving under the sea. On this journey, the bird even discovers a new friend (who is not blue at all!).
  • National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually, which aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.
  • Students completed many activities based on values and bowerbirds.

Grade 2 Car Launcher

Last week Grade 2AP spent time making car launchers as part of their Knowledge Unit on Forces. Below are some students' reflections on the Car Launchers.

On Friday, we made a car launcher. We had to follow the procedure which showed us to make it. My car launcher worked well because it went fast.

Next time I will use a photocopier box because it’s stronger.

On Friday we made a car launcher. We had to follow the procedure which showed us how to make it. My car launcher worked well because the elastic bands were stretchy. I liked my car launcher because it was colourful. Next time I will make the holes bigger. I will make it better by making the numbers bigger.

Next time I will make my band shorter. I want to make another one.

Next time I won’t get a wide box so the car does not go flying.

My car launcher was strong.
