Through the unit ‘Our Extreme Earth in Space’, students learned that everything is intentionally created by God, including sudden geological changes or extreme weather. Students use evidence to explain the cause-and-effect relationship of natural phenomena and how mankind can care for those who have experienced tragedy, as well as how we can become better stewards of God’s Earth. As a springboard to their project, students travelled to Carlton to watch ‘Extreme Weather’ at IMAX.

BOOM! The speaker bellowed all around the room and the ground shook! I loved watching ‘Extreme Weather’ on a giant screen. My favourite part was when the glaciers broke and fell into the water to make mini-tsunamis. It was amazing watching God’s awesome creation.

It is the International Year of the Glacier and when they melt, the sea rises. I learned about all types of extreme weather at IMAX. Tornadoes, cyclones, and glaciers make a chain of events. Firstly, moisture goes into the air which can make tornadoes and cyclones, or cause drought as moisture goes to some areas and leaves other areas dry.
