Visual Arts

Year 9 Art and Nature Excursion

Year 9 Visual Arts students immersed themselves into nature at Harold Reid Reserve in Castle Cove this week.  Students used a variety of art materials to create artworks including watercolour, charcoal, pastels and photography to capture the beauty of our natural world.  Students have been inspired by the art-making practices of Andy Goldsworthy and John Wolseley.

Year 11 Photography and Digital Imaging

During Week 5, the Year 11 Photography & Digital Imaging students were granted a valuable opportunity to hone their portrait photography skills by capturing images of two esteemed staff members, Mr Stearn and Mr Cunneen and student, Archie Turner (pictured below). Demonstrating both professionalism and artistic vision, the students expertly directed their subjects, guiding them through poses and expressions while thoroughly adjusting the scene to optimise lighting and composition.

Throughout the course, the students have been immersed in the study of portraiture, experimenting with innovative lighting setups inspired by the legendary Yousef Karsh, whose iconic 1941 portrait of Winston Churchill redefined the art of photography.

We thank Mr Cunneen, Mr Stearn and Archie Turner who all graciously gave their permission for publication of these photos.
