Principal Report

Welcome to 2025

Welcome to the first Belmore School Newsletter for 2025.  Our newsletter is an important means of connecting with our school community – particularly the parents and carers of our students.  Please take the time to read the newsletter and take note of the important information or dates included, reflect on the wonderful programs or activities outlined and take pride in the achievements of our students which are highlighted.

It was lovely to see our students happy to return to school, refreshed and ready to learn after their Christmas holiday break.  The first days of our school year are spent settling the students into their new classes, supporting them get to know their teachers, assistants and classmates and introducing them into new programs.  The therapy team have been extremely supportive of this process, updating all student profiles and ensuring all students have the correct equipment to best assist them in their classrooms and programs.

We have wonderful staff at Belmore School who are as enthusiastic as I am to ensure that our students have the best programs and learning opportunities we can possibly offer.

Student Support Group Meetings

Term 1 Student Support Group meetings were held between Monday 3rd March and Friday 14th March.  Term 1 SSG meetings are an opportunity for teachers to share the goals they have drafted in your child's individual education plan (IEP) and to seek your input into the finalisation of their plan. If you were unable to book a suitable time, please contact Carole in Administration or your child's classroom teacher.

Harmony Week

Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone which ties in nicely to our SWPBs values of 'be kind', 'be safe', 'be respectful' and 'be our best'. This year we students will contribute to activities that celebrates our diversity. On Wednesday the 19th of March students may like to celebrate by joining the staff in wearing orange to school that day.

Voluntary Financial Contributions

A letter has previously been sent home detailing the schedule of 2025 Voluntary Financial Contributions.  As detailed in the letter whilst Government funding based upon our number of students covers the majority of our school operations, additional funds are required to enable the school to continue to provide a high standard of facilities and resources.

Please be assured that while all financial contributions are voluntary, they are greatly received to support us to continue to provide the best possible education for our students. Funds will be used to purchase and or upkeep the following items:

  • essential education items to enhance access to the curriculum
  • student diary
  • first aid and hygiene supplies
  • personal care items
