Harmony Week

Celebrating Harmony Week: 31st March - 4th April
Dear Truganina College Community,
We are excited to announce that Truganina College will be celebrating Harmony Week from Monday, 31st March to Friday, 4th April!
Due to NAPLAN, we have adjusted our celebrations to this timeframe, ensuring that everyone can participate and embrace the theme "Connecting Community."
Here’s what our week will look like:
Monday: Cultural Hand Art Activity
Each class will receive a hand design template for students to cut out and colour in. Students are encouraged to draw their country’s flag on their hand cutout, symbolizing the rich cultural diversity within our school.
Wednesday: Harmony Day Assembly - Year 7-9
At 10am to 10.30am, special guest Mahamed Ahmed – Senior Project Officer Victorian Department of Education will be talking and launching the start of a NEW student led policy – “Preventing & Responding to Racism”.
Thursday: Classroom Collage Activity
Using the hand cutouts from Monday, each class will work together to create a collage to be displayed in their classroom. Classes will then submit their best design to Room 23 (CLO’s office) to contribute to a whole-school collage.
Friday: Cultural Dress-Up Day
Students and staff are encouraged to dress up in their cultural attire to proudly represent their heritage.
Every morning, a video will be played in Home Group or during reading time to educate and inspire students about different cultures.
Out of respect for those taking part in Ramadan, we will not have cultural performances during Harmony Week. However, we will look at scheduling a "Culture Day" in the next term where we can showcase performances and celebrations.
Stay Tuned for More Updates!
More information about Harmony Week will be released soon. Keep an eye out for further details! Let’s come together to celebrate diversity, unity, and connection within our Truganina College community.
Warm regards,
Community Liaison Officers
