Wellbeing Support Resources & Programs
Wellbeing Support Officers
Following discussions with our former student counsellors, we are updating their title to Wellbeing Support Officers (WSOs). This change better reflects their broad role, which includes program support, counselling services, relationship-building education, and social-emotional skill development, as well as assisting in the Student Support Centre (SSC).
We extend our gratitude to Jacquie, Lauren, and returning team member Lateshia for their dedication to student wellbeing. A special thanks to Mary McNally, who retired at the end of 2024 after 30+ years of service. We wish her a well-earned rest!
Student Support Centre (SSC)
The SSC is a dedicated space to assist students struggling with emotional regulation at school. Students first seek support from WSOs in the Allman Centre, who determine the best course of action. The SSC operates in collaboration with our Learning Adjustment and Engagement teams.
Pastoral System & House Leaders
CCS has a vertical Pastoral System, where students engage in lessons alongside peers from various year levels within their House Groups. House Leaders provide pastoral, learning, and behavioral support.
Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support (WSAPBS)
Our WSAPBS program focuses on Respect and Responsibility as core school-wide expectations. The SWE Matrix outlines these values in different school settings. We encourage families to discuss these expectations and reflect: Are we meeting them? Can we do better?
SEED Program
The SEED (Self Empowerment, Engagement, and Drive) Program is our Pastoral Program, developed by the Wellbeing Team in collaboration with The Resilience Project. Lessons cover Goal Setting, Mental Health, Connection, Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness, and more.
Behaviour Support Processes
To clarify our Behaviour Support Process:
- Low-Level Incidents: For information only; the situation has been addressed at school. Should we deem you need to know more we will be in contact. This helps keep you in the loop and facilitate a conversation with your child.
- Medium-Level Incidents: Parents will be contacted with details and next steps. Support may be provided by House Leaders, Pastoral Teachers, and WSOs.
- Class Exits: If a student is removed from class, WSOs will arrange a restorative re-engagement meeting before they return.
Other processes, including the Strike System and Minutes Lost, remain in place to reinforce student responsibilities. We appreciate your support in maintaining a consistent approach to student behaviour.
Student Voice & Agency
Congratulations to our Student Voice Cabinet, House, and School Captains for their outstanding leadership at the Year 7 Parent Information Sessions. Their time and efforts in conducting tours and engaging with parents have been highly praised. Thank you for representing CCS with pride!
